Melissa Albright has joined Harcourts The Garner Group Real Estate as a licensed broker. She obtained her Oregon real estate license in 2016 and brings to real estate a career based on entrepreneurship, interaction with people and knowledge of Bend’s many attractions.
Melissa and her family have lived in Bend since 2002. An enthusiastic civic booster, “I love where we live and I love to show people Bend,” she declared. As owner of the popular Little Bite Cafe in NorthWest Crossing for five years, she served as an information source for neighborhood visitors. “I have met many amazing people here who I have grown to respect and admire,” she said.
Earlier, Melissa taught for eight years at Mud Pies and Lullabies pre-school in Bend. Here she became acquainted with many Bend families in the business community. “Their support helped me launch a successful business. Relationships such as these provide the foundation for success in real estate,” she declared.
Melissa’s teenage years were spent in the Seattle area. She graduated from Mercer Island High School and majored in business at Western Washington University. She developed an interest in culinary arts and graduated from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, launching a career “mostly spent in the kitchen,” she commented.
Melissa worked as a line cook, sous chef, opened three restaurants and had her own catering business, all in Washington state. She conducted cooking classes for Sur La Table, a specialty cookware retailer based in Seattle.
Outdoor recreation opportunities and overall quality of life advantages attracted Melissa, husband Mike Albright and sons Riley and Jacob–now teenagers–to Bend. The Albrights are avid skiers, hikers and mountain bikers who “love to explore Oregon,” she said. Melissa has participated in charitable events for the Bend Spay & Neuter Project, Kids Center and Family Access Network. “Supporting local charities and local business is very important to me,” she said.
