Sunriver was established in 1969 on 3,300 acres bordering the Deschutes River. The planned private residential and resort community contains more than 4,000 privately-owned single-family and condominium residences, a variety of recreational facilities including 26 tennis courts, and the Village at Sunriver retail center. The Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) is an elaborate swimming, water play, recreation and meeting center on a 22-acre site.
The resort proper is owned by Sunriver Limited Properties and Destination Hotels & Resorts and includes a lodge complex, four golf courses, airport, marina and stables.
